Interview with Ambassador Irena Šarac for the Spanish daily newspaper „El Mundo“

In an interview for the print edition of one of the most widely read newspapers, El Mundo, with journalist M. Corbal, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Kingdom of Spain, Irena Šarac, besides discussing her professional diplomatic career, reflected on the traditionally close and friendly relations between Serbia and Spain, which are currently going through the best phase in their history. She particularly emphasized the importance of Spain’s firm position on the non-recognition of the so-called Kosovo, as well as respect for sovereignty and international law.
She also highlighted the significance of hosting EXPO 2027 in Serbia, pointing out the potential for Spanish companies to enter the Serbian market, as well as the wider Western Balkans market.
In a relaxed and cordial conversation, Ambassador Šarac also spoke about the similarities between the Serbian and Spanish peoples, i.e., similar mentalities and outlooks on life, highlighting the rich history, tradition, culture, and gastronomy of Serbia.
